Conducting scholarship

Each year we aim to help young musicians by appointing conducting or singing scholarships. Last year we appointed Hannah Thomson as a Conducting Scholar. She attended and assisted with weekly rehearsals and concerts throughout the 2025/26 season. Under the watchful eye of Musical Director Alex Kyle, Hannah developed her conducting skills by taking responsibility for leading sections of the rehearsal each week. She eventually took full responsibility for two performances of “The Cantique de Jean Racine” in Ilkley, conducting over 120 voices.
